- Parents, I would like to give everyone an update on last semester. The semester began with news that we would have construction in the lobby area and office area of CCHS. The main focus of the construction is to address safety issues and move the main office to a location that would serve as a central entry point. Many of you on your first visit to our office may have had an issue determining the location to enter the building. We hope that the result of the construction is a safer building and a clearly marked office location for visitors. We had to devise plans and move our counseling office as well as a couple classrooms. We also had to close off the lobby area which created logistical issues with morning crowd control as well as revamping our fire/safety plan. Our gym entrance had to move to the back side of the gym and our auditorium is completely closed off. I want to let you know that your students have handled these changes extremely well. They are resilient and have managed their own different ways to adapt Lewis Group Architects have a rendering available on YouTube that is a vision of the finished result: Cocke County High School Construction Finished Result
- CCHS also received news that we have been identified for additional targeted support and improvement (ATSI) during the 2023-2024 school year for the Economically Disadvantaged and Students with disabilities student groups. We are working hard with the state and the district to increase student performance. There are many meetings scheduled in the near future to identify achievement plans and put them into practice. We are in this together and need your cooperation, support, and input throughout this process.
- Parents, please remind your students that hats are not allowed in the hallways or classrooms at CCHS. We are going to make a reminder announcement to address this on Monday morning. Students had an opportunity to earn the privilege but it was not earned last semester.
- Please remind your students that they are to be in their classes at 8:15. We do not have many days left before Spring semester EOC testing begins. This semester will speed by.
- Parents, if you have a nomination for teacher of the month, please email the nomination to Dr. Willis ([email protected])
- Please remind your Seniors that there will not be a “crunch week” right before graduation this year. Those students that failed a class during the first semester will have an opportunity to attend credit recovery starting at the end of January in order to graduate with their cohort.
- Please continue to encourage your students to go through the cafeteria line. Students MUST enter their numbers.
- We ask that you please link your Food City account to CCHS. Instructions: Log on to your Food City account, on the dashboard, click update school, select CCHS from the dropdown list (CCHS school code is 40358). We also get bonus awards for posting on social media, announcing on radio/print/television, posting on school marquee. Please also enlist your friends and neighbors. If you have any issues with this, please contact Dr. Willis.
