Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education(CTE) refers to educational programs that specialize in providing students with the knowledge, skills, and experiences necessary to pursue careers in specific industries or fields. CTE programs offer hands-on learning opportunities, technical skills training, and pathways to industry certifications or licensures. These programs are designed to prepare students for success in various career pathways, including fields such as healthcare, information technology, manufacturing, agriculture, culinary arts, hospitality and tourism, transportation, architecture and engineering design and many others. CTE plays a vital role in preparing students for the workforce and meeting the demands of the ever-evolving job market.

In January 2025, a new innovation center opened its doors in Cocke County to introduce middle school students to different trade careers.  After three years in the making, it is now part of the county’s curriculum. Located in the county’s old Walmart building, the new curriculum will target middle school students. The curriculum will introduce students to high-tech equipment used in trade careers while giving them hands-on experience with activities.
