Reports to:  Principal

Job Duties:

  • Maintain required lesson plans
  • Maintain appropriate classroom discipline
  • Conduct bench mark assessments to determine students present level of academic functioning
  • Schedule and conduct Individual Education Plan(IEP) meetings for students with disabilities
  • Provide parents, students(when applicable) and all other IEP Team members a 10 day notice prior to meeting dates
  • Guide the IEP Team in setting the academic, behavior, transition, vocational, and functional skills instructionally appropriate measurable annual goals for individual students on the teachers caseload
  • Guide the IEP team in using data to determine appropriate student participation in state mandated testing and administer the appropriate assessment when necessary
  • Provide parents and students when applicable prior written notice of changes in the IEP
  • Insure that all new referrals have the appropriate data from RTI or other appropriate sources and are completed within the 60 day time limit
  • Insure that parents and or guardian receive a copy of Procedural Safeguards and explain the parents and student rights
  • Assign and invite surrogate parents for students in state’s custody
  • Provide an invitation to meetings and Procedural Safeguards to parents of students in state’s custody until the parent’s rights have been fully terminated
  • Follow appropriate procedures for within system, instate, and out of state transfer students to insure continuation of services as appropriate
  • Gain appropriate parent permission for any individualized assessment or reevaluation
  • Compile data necessary and complete 3 year reevaluation summary packets for each individual student on the teacher’s caseload
  • The development of IEPs for students with disabilities based on the student’s present level of functioning
  • Guide the IEP team in using data to determine the appropriate classroom accommodations and modifications for individual students
  • Consult with classroom teachers and gather data to insure accommodations and modifications are implemented and successful
  • Gather weekly data on student progress toward IEP goals
  • Analyze collected data to complete student progress reports documenting progress on individual students goals at every 3 ½ weeks
  • Schedule student intervention service times
  • Provide appropriate researched based interventions based on the student’s present level of performance in the areas of reading and math
  • Collect data on student performance on the intervention
  • Make data based decision to determine student progress, evaluate effectiveness of interventions and goal mastery
  • Complete Functional Behavior Assessments for students with challenging behaviors to support their participation in the curriculum and school community
  • Develop, implement, and track data on behavior plans
  • When appropriate schedule inclusion services for students
  • Plan for collaborative instruction with the general education teacher for students receiving inclusion
  • Carryout collaborative instruction in an inclusive environment for students receiving inclusion services
  • Complete all IEPs, progress reports, reevaluation summary packets, parent and student invitation to meeting as well as prior written notices using the Easy IEP web site
  • Upload all signature pages collected during the IEP process to Easy IEP web site
  • Participate in regular Professional Learning Community (PLC) meeting at the school and district level
  • Provide for both the educational needs as well as physical care of students with disabilities as outlined in the IEP
  • Other duties as assigned by the principal which will include but not be limited to bus duty, hall duty, open house, parent teacher meetings, ball game duty, PLC meetings, and professional development
