17 Oct Special Announcement about the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer Program
The Tennessee Department of Human Services is working with school districts to give eligible families who missed the August 14th deadline another chance to receive food assistance through the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) program. Under the P-EBT program, families of children who receive free or reduced meals at school or attend a Community Eligibility Provision school, may receive financial assistance to replace school meals missed due to COVID-19 school closures.
We have been notified by the Tennessee Department of Human Services that there will be more rounds of P-EBT cards and benefits, but they have not given us a timeframe at this time for these to arrive or who will receive the benefits. There is nothing you need to do at this time. Please do not call your child’s school or Central Office, as we do not have any information about when the next round of benefits will begin. We will contact you when the state notifies us with the new P-EBT program details. Again, please do not contact your child’s school concerning the P-EBT program, as they will not have information until our Food Service Department receives it from the Department of Human Services.
Thank you for your patience as we work to provide these additional resources to the families of Cocke County Schools students. We will be in touch as we learn program details.
